Did you know that not all photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) are the same?

A PMT amplifies the light signal that is measured in a microplate reader, whether it is a fluorescence, luminescence or absorbance signal. Since these light signals are not the same, that is some are in UV, blue or far red regions of the spectrum, then the detection technology needs to be different to get the best results. Instead of limiting a detection mode by compromising on PMT technology, BMG LABTECH uses different PMTs for different detection modes. Read how this is accomplished in the PHERAstar detection system: http://www.bmglabtech.com/technology/detection.cfm

  1. The PMT is the device which can amplifies the light signal. it is necessary to amplifies such light weight signal because it have not enough strength to travel for long distance communication and amplifier can make it strong for that.
