Filters offer fantastic performance for many measurement modes including TR-FRET, BRET, AlphaScreen®, fluorescence polarization, fluorescence intensity and others. Filters provide blocking levels between excitation and emission wavelengths of at least one million fold, typically one thousand times better than a monochromator, meaning that experimental background and signal to noise ratios will be optimal. Filters can also have bandpasses that are wider, or narrower, than even the best monochromators. For luminescence experiments bandpasses up to 120nm are needed and some TR-FRET assays need a 4nm bandpass for optimal performance.
