BMG LABTECH has released a new application note “Growth of Campylobacter using BMG LABTECH's FLUOstar Omega equipped with ACU”. This application note shows how growth of the fastidious microorganism Campylobacter jejuni was monitored using a FLUOstar Omega microplate reader equipped with the optional microprocessor controlled Atmospheric Control Unit (ACU). The ACU makes it possible to regulate O2 and CO2 levels within the microplate reader. Oxygen can be controlled from 1-19% and regulation of carbon dioxide is possible between 0% and 20%. In this application note, the ACU was used to independently control the oxygen to 7 % and the carbon dioxide to 10 %. We compare the growth curves obtained in the FLUOstar Omega with ACU in 96-well plate formats to those in a traditional environmentally controlled test tube incubator.
